I made the mistake of not writing my post on our trip in the days immediately following the trip, but I will try to write a worthy summary anyways.
The Mortenson clan invaded Minneapolis for three Twins games starting on the morning of Thursday, August 17 and leaving on Sunday the 20th. Grandma Jean, aunt Debra, uncle Todd, and cousins Quinn and Jack joined Curty, Kim, Will, and I at the Radisson in downtown Minne. My uncle Doug arrived on Friday from Los Angeles and stayed until Monday.vIt was great spending time with all of them for several days in the greater Minneapolis metro area. We watched a day game on Thursday, and night games on Friday and Saturday. I had a great time at all of the games, despite the Twins 1-2 record over the course of three games.
Over the course of the trip, we went to the Mall of America, ate at the News Room and a wonderful seafood restaurant (I forget the name), and visited the gravesites of two of my Grandma's brothers and one of her uncles. Grandma's oldest brother died when the military zeppelin he was aboard was shot by a German submarine. His body was never found and the marker was only recently erected. It was a bittersweet moment for all of us, Grandma in particular. I am very glad to have seen the site and having heard some stories about my great uncles.
Getting some serious hang-out time in with my father, mother, brother, uncles, aunt, cousins, and grandmother was great. I sincerely hope we can arrange more trips like this in the future. I had an awesome time.
