Work and Food

Work:
Work has been pretty great thus far. In the office, I am doing things very similar to last summer: data entry and data analysis. Outside of the office, I have attended a House Government Reform Committee, a forum at the Center for American Progress, and a forum at the Urban Institute. My coworkers are all very nice people, which can never be taken for granted.

Monday, I will be flying to Kansas City, MO, for a series of hearings with Region VII officials. I am told we will enter a huge underground cave housing tons of Social Security files. I wish I would have known about this BatCave at the Government Reform hearing, as the topic of discussion was information security (the hearing was brought about by the theft of the identities of 26 million military personnel - including 80% of all active soldiers - from a VA employee's home in Montgomery County, Maryland).

Food:
If I can remember, I will start bringing my camera along when I go out to eat and taking pictures of my meals and restaurant settings.

The restaurant food has been pretty good, but I am yet to make it to any restaurants that are truly unique. Washington is known for its Asian and African restaurants, most of all Ethiopian. Food (and everything else here) is more expensive than any place I have ever been, even in grocery scores. Alcohol, when I rarely sample it, is even more expensive.

I love you. You are perfect for this DC bit...fill of bullshit. And I quote "Alcohol, when I rarely sample it..."

You are pretty much the man!
